Adobe is working on a generative AI video model for its Firefly family. This new tool will bring fresh features to its Premiere Pro video editing platform. Users will be able to generate video and add or remove objects using text prompts. This is similar to Photoshop’s Generative Fill feature. Additionally, users can extend the length of video clips with these tools.

Different from Adobe’s past Firefly updates, there is no set release date for the video generation tools. The company only stated that they will be available “this year.” Adobe showcased an early video demo of what the video model can do. However, the integration of AI models from other providers is not yet confirmed.

Adobe calls the third-party AI integrations an “early exploration.” They aim to give Premiere Pro users more choices. For example, models like Pika can extend shots. Sora or Runway AI can be used to generate B-roll for projects. Adobe says its Content Credentials labels can tag these generated clips. This will help identify which AI models were used.

In the early days, hard challenges were seen as warning signs to stop. But now, Adobe views difficult tasks as a competitive advantage. If a task is hard, it means fewer will follow. This mindset shift is clear in Adobe’s approach to AI tools. The company is not slowing down. Instead, they are pushing forward to stand out in the crowded tech field.
