Adobe is working on a generative AI video model for its Firefly family. This new tool will bring fresh features to Premiere Pro, its video editing platform. Users can generate videos and add or remove objects with text prompts, similar to Photoshop’s Generative Fill feature. This will also let them extend video clips.

Unlike past Firefly announcements, Adobe has not set a release date for these tools. They are expected to roll out this year. Adobe showed an early video demo of what its model can do. It also plans to integrate Premiere Pro with AI models from other providers, but this is not certain yet.

Adobe calls these third-party AI integrations an “early exploration.” The goal is to offer Premiere Pro users more choices. They could use models like Pika to extend shots or Sora or Runway AI to generate B-roll. Adobe's Content Credentials label will identify which AI models were used in the generated clips.

This development shows Adobe’s commitment to blending AI with creative tools. By offering various AI model options, users can have more creative control. It also ensures that the content remains authentic and traceable. The new tools aim to simplify the video editing process, making it more efficient and user-friendly.
